History of Jesus the Christ Church
In early 1992, the Lord commanded Bishop Dr. William E. Lee to facilitate bible study in the Wall Street area of New York City. The ministry was composed of a group of worshippers from several churches. From this union, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Lee established Jesus The Christ Church. Services were held on a daily basis in various spaces including an atrium, the basement of a church, the subway and the plaza of a major bank. Bishop Lee and the members were forced to leave all of the above areas and finally ended up at the Seaman’s Church, located at 241 Water Street in New York City.
In early 1996, God placed it on Bishop Lee’s heart to open the doors of the church in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He was obedient and the first worship service was held on August 4, 1994 at the Best Western Hotel in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.December 20, 1995, there was a groundbreaking service for what was to become Jesus The Christ Church. November 14, 1998 was the first worship service in the building.
On August 23, 2002, the mortgage was burned by the grace of God and on May 15, 2009, God added a new addition onto the existing church. Jesus the Christ Church opened a Bookstore which was located on Main Street in Stroudsburg and is currently located in the addition of the church. In November of 2018, the bookstore was renamed in his memory.
In 2007, Jesus The Christ Church of Biblical Studies became a satellite extension for the North Carolina College of Theology where Dr. Lee served as the College President. June 16, 2018 was the last graduation ceremony.
